WP Plugin List

Often, I come across other blogs/websites built using WordPress. On a few occasions, I’ve seen a really cool or unique feature on their site which I want to have on mine. More often than not, the plugin is something freely and publicly available. Unfortunately, you really have to know where to look, as well as what to look for, in order to get the plugin. To me, that’s a hassle; there’s been a few cases in which I had no idea what the plugin was called, what I should search for, or even where to look.

In order to solve this dilemma, I propose that all WordPress users create a new page, like I have done, listing the plugins used on the site. Obviously, some plugins won’t ever be seen by the end user, but that’s no reason not to list them. Not only does listing the plugins you use help other WordPress users, it also is a way of thanking the authors of the plugins.

If you are also a WordPress user and wish to follow my example, please create a new page with the slug: wordpress-plugin-list. By standardizing the file name, it’ll make it easier to find other users plugin lists. I’ve found the easiest way to make the list is to open up two tabs (if you use Firefox or any other tabbed browser – two windows should work for IE or other tab-less browsers) – in one tab, I have this page. In the other tab, I have my plugin list. With the visual rich editor enabled, I can simply copy the plugin name and paste it into the page. The link comes with it.

If you decide to make your own plugin list, please trackback to me once you’ve done it. As of this writing, one issue that exists in WordPress is that “Pages” do not have a trackback ping field. However, I have created a plugin which will allow trackbacks on “Pages.” Please get Wordpress Trackback for Pages Plugin to enable this function.

I think I’ve done enough blabbering about my opinions on this matter for now, so I present to you the list of WordPress plugins I use:

< ?php $viperspluginsused->output_list(TRUE, FALSE); ?>

My current theme as of this writing is Pool by Borja Fernandez

I hope that this listing has helped and inspired some of you to try some of the plugins I’ve listed. Please leave any feedback about this article below.
